Photoshop is an extremely powerful software application, so powerful it has evolved to the status of a verb (i.e., that model has been photoshopped in the photo). The most commonly used tools are store within the Photoshop Toolbox found on the left side of the desktop.   The key to learning how to effectively utilize Photoshop is to learn what each tool is designed to accomplish.  In the spirit of Mr. Potato Head, the first exercise, the "VegtMan" lesson requires the students to utilize different tools to select, copy and paste each of the vegetables and fruits from Image A to a new image. The goal of the lesson is to become comfortable with multiple selection tools by repeatedly using them while fulfilling the assignment. The tools covered in this lesson includes the following tools:
  • Quick Selection Tool
  • Magic Wand
  • Move Tool
  • Eyedropper tool 
  • Rectangular and Oval Marquee Tools 
  • Lasso Tool
  • Gradient Tool 
  • Paintbursh Tool
  • Horizontal Type tool
  • Zoom Tool
